THE RDH12 FUND FOR SIGHT
Abigail has been diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Leber’s Congenital Amaurosis (LCA) that causes the eye’s retina to slowly die. There are 16 different versions of LCA. Abigail’s version of LCA, caused by a gene called RDH12, is especially rare. Because very little is known about this form of LCA, there is no treatment or cure available to her. But there is hope. Recently, scientists and doctors created a gene therapy treatment of one of the more common forms of LCA that restored sight to those receiving it. If this approach were to be taken for Abigail’s form of LCA there is a good chance she and others like her could avoid a life of darkness.
The only way this will happen is if the necessary research and resources are directed to the effort of producing this cure. The once unthinkable goal, curing blindness, is within reach.
Help us make that happen. Help support Abigail’s Angels.
All funds raised by Abigail’s Angels are donated to the RDH12 Fund for Sight. The RDH12 Fund for Sight, a registered 501(3)(c) charitable foundation, was founded by families of children with LCA caused by the RDH12 gene. The fund is committed to specifically supporting research and development of a cure for LCA caused by RDH12 while providing the infrastructure for affected families to share information, fears, and concerns.
If you would like to make a direct donation to the RDH12 Fund for Sight, you can send a check payable to the RDH12 Fund for Sight to the address below. Direct donations are tax-deductible.
