TANQUE VERDE BAPTIST CHURCH

It was the early 1930s that our country was recovering from the Great Depression. A group of believers in Jesus Christ gathered in a one-room schoolhouse on the northeast side of Tucson to study God’s Word. It was soon that they sensed a need for organization and leadership. It was through the encouragement of Dr. R. S. Beal, and the First Baptist Church of Tucson that Tanque Verde Baptist Church came into being. Howard Smith, a local farmer, donated the four acres where the church was built on Tanque Verde Loop. It was completed and dedicated to the service of Jesus Christ in 1939.
