We are a new church with deep roots in the Cedar Rapids community. New Disciples of Cedar Rapids is a new congregation in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Born out of a partnership between First Christian and Cedar Christian churches, we came to believe we are meant to be a new church, embracing a future together as one.
As New Disciples, we left behind traditional buildings as well as old habits and practices that no longer served us, in order to re-think church and become something new. We carry forward a rich spiritual heritage of inclusiveness, unity, mission, open dialogue, and welcome—messages we believe couldn’t be more urgent and timely in today’s fractured world.
