He was The Doctor. His was the private inspiration for their more public triumph.
His enthusiasm for the musical success of others was an infectious empowerment, as overwhelming as the subtle downturned eyebrow of his disapproval. He pushed us past ourselves, through doors we never knew were there, to that place where the Wolf was alive, and there was no jive.
He went on to fill the big shoes of Little Feat, and we all knew what he would become. Except he didn’t.
