Mountain Empire Airport is a public use airport in Smyth County, Virginia, United States. It is located nine nautical miles northeast of the central business district of Marion and 13 nautical miles west of Wytheville. The airport has a single 5252 x 75 ft. runway, with published localizer and GPS approaches and a full parallel taxiway. A ramp extension gives ample tie-down space for aircraft of all sizes. Before or after your flight, relax in the terminal building; which features a waiting lounge, flight planning area, and conference room. The airport provides full service fuel for both 100LL and Jet- A.
The Mountain Empire Airport is owned and operated by the Smyth Wythe Airport Commission, a joint commission of representatives from Smyth and Wythe Counties and the towns of Marion and Wytheville. The Commission meets the fourth Thursday of every month at 6 pm in the terminal conference room.
