Jon V. Harper has an extensive background in the legal profession spanning 40 years and ranging from general commercial to complex civil litigation. Mr. Harper has been recognized as a Mountain States Super Lawyer (2013-19) and listed among Business Magazine’s Utah Legal Elite. He has an “AV Preeminent” rating from the Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings, indicating that “his peers rank him at the highest level of professional excellence.”
In addition to his general practice, Mr. Harper specializes in business and complex civil litigation, primarily on the plaintiff side, resulting in the recovery of millions of dollars for shareholders, consumers and policyholders through nationwide class actions and shareholder derivative litigation. He has successfully participated as co-lead counsel and local counsel against numerous corporate boards for breach of fiduciary duty and other corporate governance matters, and against numerous large companies for unfair trade practices, deceptive advertising and breach of contract.
Mr. Harper also has represented and advised clients on a wide variety of business matters, using his legal knowledge, analytical capabilities, judgment and legal experience to obtain successful results for his clients.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Harper served for eight years as Associate Dean of the University of Utah College of Law, responsible for student services and day-to-day administration of the law school. Appointed as Adjunct Professor, he taught the subjects of Higher Education Law and Education Law in the Colleges of Law and Education, respectively.
