The AuSable Artisan Village art center was established in 2010. The once damaged building on Michigan Ave. in downtown Grayling had been sitting vacant for 10 years. Leasing the building, and eventually purchasing the building in 2015, marked a major development in the revitalization of downtown Grayling.

Artisan Village is a non-profit co-op, and its operations & initiatives are currently 100% volunteer-run.
