FOUNTAIN OF HOPE AFRICAN METHODIST EPISCOPAL CHURC
Fountain of Hope
Fountain of Hope African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church was organized in 2002 by a group of believers spearheaded by William Dean Ishman. These believers felt very strongly that there should be an African Methodist Episcopal Church in Henderson, Nevada. The first exploratory meeting to form an AME church was held at the home of William Dean and Diane Ishman on October 5, 2002. An earlier attempt to start a church in Henderson, Nevada had been made in 1996; however, Reverend Dr. Howard S. Gloyd, Presiding Elder of the Los Angeles/San Diego/Las Vegas (LA/SD/LV) District, which is a part of the larger Fifth District, did not approve the first request to establish a church in Henderson because he felt it just was not the right time.
