Mike Buckwald received his bachelors degree in accounting in 1979 from the University of Oregon, at which time he started his career as an accountant for the firm of Joseph English, CPA in Florence, Oregon. In January 1997 Mike received his CPA certificate (Oregon license) and became an owner with Joseph English changing the name to Buckwald & English CPAs. The firms name changed to Buckwald Accounting & Consulting, PC in early 2001 as a result of the loss of his partner. Mike is from Las Vegas, Nevada, but has lived in the Florence area for the last 50 years. He enjoys fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He is a Vietnam Veteran and has worked in many trades since, but ultimately, it was his love of the tax code and his mentorship with Joe English that led him to pursue a career in accounting. Mike is a member of the OSCPA and OAIA.
Brittany Hornung received her bachelors degree in accounting in 2016 from the University of Oregon, and her CPA certificate (Oregon license) in November 2017. She has mentored under Mike since first coming to work for him in 2007. From the very beginning, she felt a natural inclination toward tax and accounting, which has since turned into a passion and eagerness to face new challenges. In January 2019, Brittany became a part owner in the firm, changing the name once again, to Buckwald & Hornung CPAs, PC. Brittany enjoys backpacking with her family and goldendoodle. She became a mother in 2018 and loves being a working mom. Brittany is a member of the OAIA, MOB Alliance, and the Florence Area Chamber of Commerce.
