Kenneth E. “Ken” Byrd, Sr. is a Real Estate Broker and Auctioneer. He has been a licensed auctioneer since 1967 and became a real estate broker in 1976. He founded Ken Byrd Realty and Auction, Inc. in 1980.
As a teenager in the early 1960’s, Ken became intrigued by the sound and rhythm of the auctioneer. Soon he mastered the auction “chant” well enough to become a Kentucky Amateur Champion in 1965. He furthered his professional skills by completing the Nashville Auction School in 1966. Mr. Byrd graduated from Western Kentucky in 1971 with a BS degree in Agri-Business. Ken was commissioned as an Army military police officer in 1971 and served seven years in the US Army reserves. Prior to pursuing the real estate and auction profession full time in 1975, Ken worked four years as a branch office manager and lender in farm credit. His background in agriculture lending, his military leadership training, and his hundreds of hours of bid calling has given him the skills to serve clients with a variety of real estate and personal property sales need.
He established his company upon the concept of implementing new auction marketing techniques which resulted in millions of dollars in sales for his clients over the years. He currently holds real estate and principal auctioneers licenses in the states of Indiana, Kentucky & Tennessee and a principal auctioneer license in Georgia. Many of his clients include banks, federal agencies, trustees, executors, and other individuals, organizations and companies.
