KANE MANOR

Kane Manor, a turn of the century national, historical landmark, was built for Dr. Elizabeth Kane and her descendants. General Thomas L. Kane, Civil War General, passed away before the house was completed, but his influence is very much a part of the manor. Kane Mansion replaced the “original homestead” that was destroyed by fire back in 1896. Dr. Elizabeth Kane named her new residence “Anoatok” an Eskimo word meaning “wind loved spot.”
