Nadine Woodward

Spokane Mayor Nadine Woodward is a champion for public safety, housing, homelessness, economic development, and mental health advancements for Spokane. She is a convenor and collaborator who engages broad perspectives to bring balance and practicality to meet community expectations.
After being elected as Mayor of Spokane in 2019, Mayor Woodward got right to work. During her first term, Mayor Woodward’s work with local, state, and federal community and governmental partners has brought together resources to prioritize community safety and wellness in a time of extreme division. She has embraced community expectations of support, accountability, and advancements with a practical and orderly approach that has drawn attention and support nationwide.
Prior to being elected Mayor in 2019, Mayor Woodward was an award-winning broadcast journalist. During a 28-year career on Spokane television, she shared with us the highs and lows of tumultuous decades.
After working broadcast news jobs in Idaho, Nadine arrived in Spokane in 1990, first working at KREM, then moving to KXLY in 2010.
During her award winning television career, Nadine made the Spokane community the focus of her work, both on and off camera. She spearheaded the causes and served as honorary chair for a multitude of organizations, including Spokane County Alzheimer’s Association, Susan G Komen Race for the Cure, Go Red for Women/American Heart Association, Anna Ogden Hall, Teen Challenge, Rescue 4 All/Inland Northwest Animal Rescue, Women Helping Women, March of Dimes, Red Cross Heroes, Children’s Miracle Network, Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital, and Coats 4 Kids.
Nadine worked her way through college, graduating from the University of Portland in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. At Clark College and UP she was very active, serving on student government, was an editor on the student newspaper, an award-winning member of the debate team, and did video production work.
Along the way, Nadine and her husband Bruce raised two beautiful children – son Connor and daughter Coley. Connor, who married his high school sweetheart, lives in Seattle and works in the tech industry while Coley, after earning her master’s degree through Arizona State University last year, now works for a think tank in Washington, D.C.
